How to Complete Rogue Tasks in Under Five Minutes for Wilderness Slayer (OSRS)
Rogues are one of the most misunderstood Wilderness Slayer tasks in Old School RuneScape. While they are not profitable and carry significant risk due to their location, they are also one of the fastest tasks you can complete if your goal is simply to earn Slayer points efficiently. This guide breaks down the safest, fastest, and least stressful way to finish a Rogue task in five minutes or less, making it especially useful for players who want to maximize Slayer points without worrying about income or whether to buy OSRS gold to support faster progression elsewhere.
Why Rogues Are a “Get In, Get Out” Task
Rogues are mechanically simple enemies with low defensive stats and poor drop tables. Even higher-level Rogues offer minimal financial incentive, making this task unattractive for players seeking profit. However, if you are grinding Wilderness Slayer points from Krystilia, speed matters more than loot. Rogues excel in this context because they can be cleared extremely quickly with the right setup.
The primary downside is location. Rogue Castle sits deep in the Wilderness, making awareness and preparation mandatory.
Getting There Safely and Efficiently
Start in Edgeville once you have your Slayer assignment. From there, use the Edgeville lever, which teleports you directly into deep Wilderness near the Rogue Castle area. This is the fastest route available.
Bring a slash weapon. You will need it to cut through a spider web immediately after pulling the lever. If you cannot cut the web, pulling the lever again will send you somewhere unintended and waste time.
Once through, head northeast toward the Rogue Castle in the top-right corner of the Wilderness map. This area is far from banks and escape routes, which is why efficiency and preparation matter.
Gear and Inventory Setup
Keep your gear cheap and disposable. You are not geared for PvP, and you should never risk anything you cannot afford to lose.
Recommended setup:
· Low-cost combat gear
· A slash weapon
· Food (enough to tank incidental damage or escape)
· A Dwarf Multicannon
· Cannonballs
· Teleport item for once you are below level 30 Wilderness
The cannon is the key to speed. Inside the castle, low-level Rogues are frequently one-shot by cannon fire, allowing you to complete large task counts extremely quickly.
Where to Kill Rogues
Always kill the low-level Rogues inside the Rogue Castle. While higher-level Rogues technically have better drops, they spawn in more open areas, are more crowded, and expose you to far greater PvP risk. The castle interior provides doors and line-of-sight breaks that make escaping or world-hopping easier.
Set your cannon in the established cannon spot inside the castle. Once placed, let it run while you monitor your surroundings.
PvP Awareness and Survival Tips
This area is actively patrolled by:
· Player killers
· Bot hunters
· Players farming Rogue chest bots
Enable player notifications (such as RuneLite’s flashing screen indicator) so you immediately know when another player enters your screen. The moment you see someone suspicious, assume danger.
The safest method is to pre-open the world switcher. If a hostile player appears, simply hop worlds. If you leave your cannon behind, it can be reclaimed later from the Dwarf at the base of White Wolf Mountain in the Gnome Stronghold.
Also be cautious of the Chaos Elemental roaming nearby. It can disarm you, teleport you, and place you into dangerous situations unexpectedly.
Finishing the Task and Leaving
Once your kill count is complete, pick up your cannon and head south immediately. You cannot teleport above level 30 Wilderness, so keep running until you drop below that threshold. At that point, use a teleport such as an Amulet of Glory to exit safely.
If you have access to Wilderness obelisks, those can also provide faster exits, but they are optional.
Loot Expectations (Manage Them)
Do not expect profit. A full task of 60–70 Rogues typically yields under 20,000 GP, often closer to 5,000–10,000 GP. Cannonballs alone make this task a net loss.
Rogues are only worth doing if:
· You want fast Slayer points
· You are maintaining a Wilderness Slayer streak
· You want the task completed as quickly as possible
Final Verdict
Rogue tasks are not rewarding-but they are efficient. With a cannon, cheap gear, and proper awareness, you can complete them in minutes and move on without breaking your Slayer momentum. Treat Rogues as a checkbox task: finish it fast, minimize risk, and never stay longer than necessary, especially if you are trying to conserve supplies or offset costs with options like cheap RS gold to keep your account funded while focusing on point efficiency rather than profit.
