Path of Exile 2: Rogue Exiles Still Not Worth Farming Post-Patch

If you've been following the chaos and conversation around loot in Path of Exile 2, you know things have been rocky. Before the recent loot patch by Grinding Gear Games (GGG), I ran some tests on farming Rogue Exiles, POE 2 Currency Orbs and the results were... underwhelming to say the least. But after the patch? I decided to revisit the topic to find out whether things had improved. Spoiler: it's still not looking good.

Let's walk through what I tested, what changed (or didn't), and why Rogue Exiles are still not worth your time or your currency-orbs, exalts, or otherwise.

The Premise: Did GGG Buff Rogue Exiles?

When GGG rolled out the recent loot fix, a lot of players assumed all underperforming mechanics-including Rogue Exiles-would get buffed. That prompted a wave of questions:

·Are Rogue Exiles finally dropping valuable loot?

·Did the patch affect their spawn rates or item quality?

·Is this mechanic finally viable for farming?

·To answer these questions, I dove into extensive testing, this time with better tools and a more scientific approach. Unlike my pre-patch tests, I aimed to control for spawn rates, item drops, and farming conditions more directly-particularly using Omen of Reinforcement, which allowed me to summon Rogue Exiles on demand.

Initial Findings: Spawn Rate Remains Disappointing

To begin, I ran 30 maps with all available Atlas passives that increased Rogue Exile encounters. The result? The spawn rate of Rogue Exiles remained exactly the same as before the patch-about 20% baseline, and up to 45% with full investment.

In other words, even with significant Atlas support, you're still only likely to see a Rogue Exile in less than half of your maps. That's nowhere near reliable or profitable for farming, especially in a game as fast-paced and loot-driven as Path of Exile 2.

The Workaround: Omen of Reinforcement

Here's where things got interesting.

I began using Omen of Reinforcement, a currency item that claims:

"While this item is active in your inventory, the next Rogue Exile you encounter will summon an ally."

What I discovered, however, was not what the description suggested.

Instead of adding an ally to an existing Rogue Exile encounter, the Omen spawns a single Rogue Exile instantly when used-regardless of map or situation. There's no "ally," no second exile, and no additional monsters. Just one rogue, appearing out of thin air the moment the Omen is activated.

This was huge: I could now test Rogue Exile drops directly, without relying on RNG spawn rates.

The Atlas Strategy and Farming Setup

To ensure quality loot, I built an Atlas focused entirely on boosting Rogue Exile rewards. Here's what I used:

·All available Rogue Exile spawn and drop passives

·Intelligence-based gear focus (100% crit chance to wear INT gear)

·Wealthy Targets, which gives:

·No unique armor

·100% increased chance to wear unique jewelry

The Loot: 30 Exiles, 6 Uniques, Mostly Garbage

I spent 30 Omens of Reinforcement, each costing about 6-7 Exalted Orbs. That's nearly 200 Exalts burned just to test drops-and the results were abysmal:

·30 total rare drops (all mediocre)

·6 unique items, including:

·Lifesprig

·Dusk Vigil

·Earthbound

·Scene Star

·Pillar of the Caged God

·And the only valuable one: The Anvil (Bloodstone Amulet), worth 30 Ex due to a perfect block roll

·Despite the "Wealthy Targets" Atlas node, only one of the six uniques was jewelry, and none were corrupted. Most were low-value weapons, not even useful bases for crafting.

To be blunt: The loot is unchanged post-patch. If GGG adjusted anything about Rogue Exiles, the data doesn't show it.

What About Ritual Farming? Nope.

One theoretical workaround I wanted to test was pairing Rogue Exile spawns with the Ritual mechanic. The idea was that if an Exile dies inside a Ritual circle, it could be farmed repeatedly during subsequent Rituals in that map-multiplying your loot potential.

Unfortunately, this didn't pan out either. Even when running Ritual on every map, not a single Omen-spawned Rogue Exile appeared inside the Ritual zone. They always spawned independently, making this synergy impossible to test properly.

So you're paying 6-7 Exalts for a single, one-time Exile spawn-without any synergy, without loot multipliers, and without reward.rewards or mechanics

·For a mechanic that costs 6-7 Exalted Orbs per attempt, you'd expect a meaningful return. But the reality is that Rogue Exiles are still one of the weakest loot sources in the game. Their inclusion in the Atlas tree feels like a trap-one that newer or hopeful players might fall into hoping for massive drops that just don't happen.

Final Thoughts: Wait for a Real Rework

Unless GGG significantly buffs Rogue Exile rewards, improves spawn rates, get more POE 2 Exalted Orbs or gives them better loot tables, there is no reason to farm them. Even if you're trying to complete challenges or test niche builds, your time is far better spent running other mechanics like:

·Delirium

·Breach

·Abyss

·Expedition

·These offer far more reliable loot, better synergy with map investment, and actual economic return on your time.

If anyone out there has had a miracle drop from a Rogue Exile-be it a Headhunter, a high-roll amulet, or some god-tier weapon. Rogue Exiles are still broken-not in a good way, but in a way that makes them not worth farming.

Let's hope GGG gives them the rework they deserve in the next league. Until then, drop those Atlas points and move on. Your currency is better spent elsewhere.
